Safety is prime concern during connector construction
During construction of the new connector from the Considine Building addition to the main hospital, safety is our top priority. Street lanes and sidewalks are closed on Bowery Street and there is limited visibility of pedestrians. New signs are directing employees and visitors to use the existing Bowery Street bridge to safely cross the street. Please help us by redirecting patient families and staff to the Bowery Street bridge and by setting a good example to help keep everyone safe. Read more

    Research Update
Adult participants needed for a food allergy study
Some people with “positive” food allergy testing have food allergies, but others do not. Our Center for Allergy and Immunology is conducting a research study to learn why.  The study begins with a brief online survey. Any adult – including staff – ages 18-50, regardless of known food allergies can take the survey.

Those who are eligible will be contacted to schedule 1-2 office visits over 3 months, with a planned total time commitment of 1-3 hours. Visits may include allergy skin testing, blood draws and eating a small meal consisting of milk, egg, soy, shellfish, tree nuts or peanuts. Participants will receive up to $30 reimbursement. For questions or more information, contact Dr. Tim Richmond at 330-543-1000 or by email.
Kidney stone bone density study seeks participants
We want to learn why children and adults, ages 11-19, who have kidney stones also develop decreased bone density and have increased fractures. What’s involved? A review of the child’s medical history, urine collection and x-ray measurement of bone density.

Individuals do not qualify if they have a parent or sibling with a history of kidney stones or one of these conditions: known history or presence of metabolic acidosis, chronic kidney disease (stage II or greater), pregnancy, immobilization, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes, asthma, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus or a malignancy. For questions or more information, contact Jake Stoltz at 330-543-0042 or by email.
