Akron Children's pursues excellence in transports

An article in the October 2011 issue of AAP News details our efforts to develop metrics for neonatal and pediatric transports. The effort is led by Michael Bigham, MD, FAAP, medical director of transport services, in collaboration with Hamilton Schwartz, MD, FAAP, from Cincinnati Children's Hospital. In 2010, Akron Children’s transported nearly 2,300 patients from other facilities throughout the region. Read more

Bill Considine receives accolades

October has been a month of celebrations and recognition for president and CEO Bill Considine. In addition to receiving the Polsky Award, he joined the Knight Foundation Board and celebrated his 39th wedding anniversary at the Brother Trouble concert, which benefited the Summer Pediatric Research Scholars program.

Holiday Tree Festival celebrates 30 years

Kick off the holiday season at the 30th annual Holiday Tree Festival, Nov. 19-27, at the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron. This free event is organized by the hospital's volunteers, and since it began in 1982, it has raised more than $3 million to support the patient care programs at Akron Children's. Learn more

Akron Children's Hospital Pediatrics now offering clinic for Spanish-speaking families

The Akron Children’s Hospital Pediatrics Wooster office is now offering a walk-in clinic one day each month for Spanish-speaking patients and families. The clinic is the second Friday of each month for sick and well visits, along with scheduled appointments. Learn more
