Akron Children’s takes lead in national safety initiative

Leaders from children’s hospitals across the nation recently met to learn how Akron Children’s and other Ohio pediatric hospitals are working together to decrease medical errors. The federal government awarded a two-year, $4.3 million contract to roll out the Ohio Children's Hospitals' Solutions for Patient Safety initiative nationwide. Read more.

Clinical study aims to help teens with fibromyalgia

Mary Toth, MD, director of Rheumatology at Akron Children’s, and other physicians across the country are participating in a clinical study that will help teens manage fibromyalgia, a chronic pain condition with no cure. Learn more.

Doctors and technology ensure comprehensive approach for epilepsy

Akron Children's has hired several pediatric specialists to help offer a comprehensive program to treat children with epilepsy. Epilepsy surgical patients are evaluated in the new epilepsy monitoring unit in the NeuroDevelopmental Science Center. Learn more.

The chance to hear

For more than a year, Dr. Ananth Murthy and his team at Akron Children's have been crafting a new ear for Kyle Figuray, a 6-year-old from Wadsworth. Kyle was born with a birth defect that prevented his right ear from developing properly, and the new ear will correct this. Read more.
