| Simulation center improves quality of care |
Akron Children's recently opened the Simulation Center for Safety and Reliability. The center focuses on improving technical expertise, strengthening multidisciplinary teamwork and enhancing communication among physicians, nurses, paramedics and other health care providers. Learn more |
| Mahoning Valley expands surgical services |
In August, Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley will add general pediatric surgery to its list of services offered at the Kikel Center for Pediatric Surgery. As a result, newborns, children and teens will no longer have to travel to receive non-urgent, surgical procedures. Read more |

| Kerwyn Jones, MD, named chair |
| Kerwyn Jones, MD, was recently named chair of the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics. He joined the hospital in 2001 as a pediatric orthopedic surgeon and will replace longtime chair Dennis Weiner, MD. Jones earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Read more |
