Keeping the promise

Akron Children’s Hospital employees donated $3,843,938 during the “My Promise. My Children’s.” employee campaign, which supported the Building on the Promise campaign on the Akron campus and the Vision for Our Valley’s Children campaign in the Mahoning Valley. “You believe in the mission of this hospital and what we have the privilege of doing every day," said Akron Children’s President and CEO Bill Considine. “That belief has translated into this very generous gift.” Read more

 

Akron Children’s named “Most Wired”

 
Akron Children’s Hospital has been named one of the country’s "Most Wired" hospitals. The award is given to hospitals and health systems with high IT integration and is based upon a comprehensive survey which evaluates a hospital’s systems and solutions to improve patient documentation, and safety, and support clinical decision making. Special delivery

 
On May 10, the Maternal Fetal Medicine team performed the first-ever delivery in Akron Children's 123-year history. The hospital estimates there are about 100 deliveries each year where it is perilous to transport a newborn to the hospital, and that’s why there are plans to include a high-risk delivery area in the new building on the Akron campus. Five-minute procedure saves Jayce’s eyes

 
Jayce was born 4 months premature and had complications with his heart, lungs and eyes, including Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP), a common eye disease among preemies that can lead to blindness. Jayce is now thriving, following a 5-minute, non-invasive procedure that corrected the problem. Watch now

Tower cranes in place

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the progress of our new building on the Akron campus, you may have noticed the addition of two cranes, which will help transport materials to the site. The smaller of the tower cranes measures in at 210 feet! Read more
